Local legend DJ Shaun Hogg will provide the music – expect every form of Reggae and Punk imagineable – Shaun has been DJing in Bushys pub since before they were Bushys pubs – some 25 years odd !

Frank Sidebottom – Friend of the Isle of Man – sadly passed away last year, his alter ego Chris used to visit the Island regularly either to perform as Frank, play football with Bushys, or, just when he’d popped out for a pint of milk and found himself in the Rovers

In honour of the great man some of his friends / family are trying to raise the money to build a statue to Frank, a fitting tribute, this gig is to help with the fund raising

We’ve been invited by the good folk at Dirty South to DJ again at The Bay View Hotel, Port St Mary

This time instead of adding Live Surf and Harp to the mix we’ve got Live Blues and Electronic Dub – variety a go go !

“CampStar” are basically an acoustic duo featuring compositions from Simon Campbell and Suzy Starlite. Suzy plays acousto-punk with a couple of powerful ballads, empathetically inspired by the human condition… Simon is developing an acoustic set ready for his next album. Tracks to date feature stomping blues and some majestic acoustic pieces.

Providing us with some smooth Ambient Electronic Dub will be “Dub Fellaghs Sound System” (a pseudonym for one of Ballagroove’s regular artists) as another warm up for their set at Mannifest Festival in August – the last gig at the Bay Port Erin was Dubtastic so we are well excited to welcome them back.

Ballagroove DJ’s will be playing the (un)usual mix of Funk, Soul, Reggae, Indie, World Music, 60’s pop, Boogaloo, Jazz, Psych – in other words there will be a wild mix of stuff played J, there will be no Coldpl*y, U* or Beyon*e that’s fer sure

After the huge success of the last ‘Jurby Alive’ event , which raised enough money to pay for the Jurby Kids Xmas party , the 2nd one is to be held on January 2nd – just enough time to recover and get some sleep after New Year’s Eve at The Bay Port Erin (Ballagroove DJs, more details soon).

Bands for the night are: Smealiean Race, Caution Runners, Jurby Mountain Daredevils and Brian Brough. And we’re pretty sure Grant Trash will be spinning some tunes between bands.

The annual ’Evening of Improvised Music’ will be held at the Erin Arts Centre on Thursday 19th November 2009 at 7.45 pm
 
The main performers are: Jon Sanders (Saxophone, Bass Guitar, Electric Guitar); George Hughes (Guitar, Bass Guitar); Anglin Buttimore (Piano, Keyboards); Danny Kneale (Drums, Percussion).

For the un-initiated, these evenings involve some of the Islands top musicians playing improvised music, they don’t rehearse in advance and have little plan of where the evenings music will go, so its anybodies guess, generally it rolls between Jazz, Rock, Tripped out psych, Blues, Free jazz and anything else that happens to appear on the night.

The night also raises a lot of money for charity, so its well worth it
